One last post from my recent NY trip. Most of these pics from Williamsjerk, Brooklyn speak for themselves.
(Note not just what's written, but what's missing. I laugh at the same things 5-year-olds laugh at.)
Ah, defaced subway ads. Moments of entertainment.
Also on this trip, I was reminded of one of Williamsburg's good points: the artistic graffiti.
Obviously this sort of whimsy would not be welcome on one o' those
multi-million dollar condos that are springing up all over the nabe.
These ones by the twin Brazilian artists Os Gemeos always amazed me.
But the peril of having art at street level is that any spiteful slob can do this to it:
Can you imagine?
(Debbie Downer alert!) Soon most of it will be gone from this area anyway.
This story was found face up on the subway.
And this was taken in the East Village, at Niagara. The sticker on the cash register says, "I miss the old New York."
That's the last harping I'll do on that subject (until the next time I visit, when there's 25% more luxury housing in areas that used to be somewhat affordable).

Oh no!! Our expensive housing has forced the likes of an artist in a cowboy hat, beard and polyester jacket out of the city?! How will we make it up to him??

Great point, Julie! He must be a terrible artist if he can't afford designer clothing or has questionable fashion sense.

All artists are rich anyway. Who else('s parents) can afford the lifestyle? Do I sound bitter....sorry.

thanks to all this condo construction stirring up the "locals" i had an 8 inch rat in my kitchen this week. not including additional 8 inches of tail.
which is totally awesome because i can't afford Whole Foods anymore!

Niagara was on Ugly Betty a few months ago - and it was supposedly a Latin bar with dancing - HA!
I hate Williamsjerk. So why the hell did I spend New Year's Eve there?

I'm not a fan of graffiti, unless it's cool and artistic like those.
Random tagging is just an eyesore.

Love the artistic graffiti, not the random paint splotches and tags. Boo to condoville!
